Solo Mining Bitcoin Node

I have a Gekko NewPac USB miner that I bought for fun while getting started. Overclocked, I average around 50 Gh/s.
The machine it’s connected to has a full Bitcoin Node on it. I’ve enabled the wallet, and would like to point my Gekko miner at the node via cgminer for solo mining, just as a lottery. I know the odds.
I’ve tried following several guides, but they are all fairly old. Is this still possible? And if so, can anybody help me with the bitcoin.conf file?

Solo mine Bitcoin ABC?

Ignoring whether or not it is profitable, can it still be done with the Bitcoin ABC client? I see this capability was removed from Bitcoin Core some time ago.
Edit: Yes it can, with GPU or ASIC.

Setting up solo mining just targeting USB erupters? PC/Mac?

I am having trouble trying to get solo mining started on either my PC or Mac. I have a PC set up that is using three 7950s that are mining Litecoins. I'd like to have my 2 USB erupters solo mining Bitcoins for fun on the same system. I have the drivers installed for the USB miners and my system recognizes them.
I am starting Bitcoin-QT as -server
My bitcoin.conf looks like this: listen=1 server=1 rpcuser=user rpcpassword=pass
I set up a BFG .bat like this: bfgminer.exe -o 127.0.0.1:8332 -O -u user -p pass
When I launch that, BFG just crashes. I have also tried it with CGminer and that crashes also. I'd like to keep CGminer on the cards Litecoin mining and use BFG for the USB miners.
How do I get BFG to work just with the USBs? Also, do I need to input a Bitcoin address somewhere so if I did solve something I get the payout?
Sometimes, I do more work on my Mac and am also trying to set up the USBs to mine on a Mac using Diablo miner. Will that work the same way as the PC setup once we get it figured out?
Thanks for any help.

Need advice on starting a Bitcoin mining setup!

Hello all I am planning on buying a 300 GH/s ASIC miner
(https://products.butterflylabs.com/300-gh-bitcoin-mining-card.html)
I was wondering if someone could tell me how to solo mine bitcoins and if this product is worth the money. And also would I really be making hundreds of dollars a month if I constantly mine 24/7? Thank you!

Luck vs Probability and Time

You'll hear some say that it's impossible to solo mine bitcoin now. Other say it's not impossible, it's almost impossible you would have to be lucky. Others say it will take you 300 years to find a block at that rate. Some I've read say they will solo mine for fun because it's like a lottery.
How do these calculations work and which is true?
Is it really based on time and how long you have your miner running?
Is it possible for a slower machine to find a block than a faster machine?
Can mining be compared to a lottery? A slower machine might find a block based on luck?

SOLO MINING - Bitcoin Classic Token

(with MVi Tokenminer | Download (Win,Linux) >>LINK<<)
  1. Run a local ETC node (with geth or parity), or using a public node (for example: node.classicbitcoin.org) to submit your mining solutions
  2. Edit the "tokenminer.ini" file as follows, and save it:

Host=node.classicbitcoin.org RPCPort=8545 or for a local node Host=127.0.0.1 RPCPort=8545 [...] MinerAcct= AcctPK= [...] TokenContract=0x1be6d61b1103d91f7f86d47e6ca0429259a15ff0 [(or 0x8B8cC32993e17F9b32325EF964157a507451c9B3 for testnet)] [...] GasPrice=1 GasLimit=100000

ATTENTION!

If you have multiple mining rigs, specify a shared network folder to make sure, multiple miners don't try to submit a solution for the same challenge. eg. ChallengeFolder=\DESKTOP\folder_name 3. Edit the "tokenminer.ini" file and change "-P" to "-S" for solo mining, and "--opencl-platform" to '1' for AMD GPU/s or '0' for Nvidia GPU/s

Note : Use the "list-devices.bat" file to find the correct DeviceID for the miner. Use this number for

AMD

.\tokenminer.exe -G -S --opencl-platform

Nvidia

.\tokenminer.exe -G -S --opencl-platform
OR

CPU only

.\tokenminer.exe -C -S --opencl-platform

bitcoin.conf for solo mining

I've done this a long time ago. It never was a problem. Nowadays I don't get it to work. Would be great to get some help:
My bitcoin.conf looks like this:
server=1 rpcuser=bomtom rpcpassword=secret rpcallowip=192.168.0.0/24 rpcport=8332
If I point my miner to a pool via
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://some.pool:8332 -u bomtom -p secret --api-listen --cs 9 --stmcu 0 -T --diff 12
...it works just fine.
If I point my miner to my own bitcoind however via
./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://192.168.0.2:8332 -u bomtom -p secret --api-listen --cs 9 --stmcu 0 -T --diff 12
...it doesn't work and just throws:
[2018-01-01 04:14:10] Probing for an alive pool [2018-01-01 04:14:20] Waiting for work to be available from pools
Is there anything wrong with my bitcoin.conf? My chain is up to date and bitcoind generally works.

For a bit of fun I've created 2 anonymous solo mining pools for anyone who wants to try the bitcoin lottery without having to download the blockchain.

If you have any mining devices (ie not CPU's or GPU's) then you are welcome to point them to my experimental solo mining pools. I have one for BTC and one for BCH and am considering a 3rd that tracks the most profitable chain.
I use these myself so they're pretty basic and should a block be solved the payout will be performed manually after coin maturation, but if there is enough interest I'll write up a frontend and automate this stuff later. The one who solves the block gets 99% of the block award and transaction fee's.
Bitcoin Solo Pool
Host: stratum+tcp://202.164.16.89:3333#xnsub Username: . Password: x
Bitcoin Cash Solo Pool
Host: stratum+tcp://202.164.16.89:4433#xnsub Username: . Password: x
Both pools are configured to create as large a block as possible (Max weight of 4MB for BTC, and Max Size of 8MB for BCH).

Why Ethereum Mining?

1. High market capitalization, second to bitcoin only
Ethereum is the most dynamic blockchain platform in the world, and Ether is the second largest cryptocurrency in the world by market capitalization. There are around 1,200,000 transactions processed per day on this platform. Numbers explain everything.

2. Dapps on Ethereum outnumbers any other blockchain platform
Not only just a digital currency or commodity, ethereum also keeps its original motivation to be a global computing platform that allows users to deploy smart contract on it. As a kind of smart contract programmed for a specific use, there are about 2 ,000 decentralized applications, or dapps, deployed on ethereum by this June, which is more than the total numbers of dapps deployed on any other general purpose blockchain platform in the world combined.

3. Considerable payback
ETH mining profit basically consists of two parts: the value of the coins and the transaction commission. Once you mined a block, you will not only get the coins, but also the commission to prove the transactions that will be processed in the network. Because of the network congestion brought up by DeFi application ‘s popularity, transaction commission contributes much to the mining profit recently.
(Averages on 17th September,2020:
Ether Price: $389.49
Gas Price: 538 Gwei
Gas Limit:12,472,107
*Commission=538*12472107=6,709,993,566Gwei≈6.71ETH)

Below is a profitability ranking of ASIC miners for some mainstream crypto coins when Gas price is around 60~70Gwei and coin price is about $360. I couldn’t find a ranking that could include all AISIC miners and GPU miners, but it’s enough to show that ETH mining is much more profitable than others. Even though when Gas price and coin price is not very high, the revenue of ETH mining still beats other mainstream cryptocurrencies.

4. Lower Network Difficulty
Compare to bitcoin network hash rate, Ethereum network hash rate is only 244.14TH/s; Less network hash rate means less difficulty, furtherly means that there will be more chance to mine a block and get coins. Nowadays, for bitcoin mining, the possibility to mine a block solo is almost zero, but for ETH mining it is still possible. In my opinion it is the golden time for ETH mining.

Whether you are a new bird or an experienced senior in this field, ETH mining is the best choice in 2020.
